AmeriCorp Sponsors NFCC’s 39th Annual Leaders Conference
SYOSSET, NY -- September 23, 2004

AmeriCorp once again acted as a major sponsor for the National Foundation for Credit Counseling’s annual leaders conference, which convened this month in Orlando, Florida. AmeriCorp contributed human and financial resources to forums that promoted financial literacy initiatives, advocated regulation and oversight in the industry, and examined the future of non-profits. CEO Timothy McCallan also hosted a networking reception on the first evening of the conference. Representatives of educational foundations, regulatory agencies, major creditors, specialized vendors, credit counseling agencies, and other industry-related groups were able to mingle on a friendly basis and compare notes on the state of the industry and its future. Conversation touched on topics of the day: legislative affairs, fundraising strategies and grantsmanship, amongst others.

As stated in its Member Quality Standards, membership in the National Foundation for Credit Counseling is predicated upon total quality service. The accreditation standards that it has tirelessly advanced for Financial Management and Debt Counseling Service encompass the values and best practices of the NFCC. AmeriCorp continues to take an active interest in industry-wide quality management as well as informed regulation of the credit counseling companies that it serves.
