AmeriCorp Revisited for ISO Quality Assessment
SYOSSET, NY - July 8, 2003

In accordance with ISO standards, a team of independent auditors returned to AmeriCorp today for the first of several recurring Assessment Visits. The objective of these periodic visitations is to examine the continuing suitability of AmeriCorp’s quality management system, relative not only to ISO standards but also to the company’s own objectives, policies and procedures. During their stay, the auditors paid particular attention to the areas of Management Responsibility, Product Realization, and Monitoring & Measurement.

The auditors examined minutes from the latest Management Review session and particularly noted the company’s efforts to develop a proactive approach in “encouraging, guiding and improving the performance of their counseling agency customers.” A close look at Agency Services and Payment Processing Operations revealed processes that were “well defined, well thought out to achieve simplicity of operation and error avoidance and appeared to be effective in operation.” The team also cited a timely and appropriate schedule of internal audits continually at work to ensure conformity to quality standards. It concluded its investigation by confirming AmeriCorp’s continued certification.

The auditors are scheduled to return in February 2004 to evaluate Quality Management System effectiveness and ISO compliance, especially in relation to Data Review and Processing, Payment Processing, Client Inquiry and Research, and Creditor Services and Research. In the meantime, AmeriCorp’s internal audit teams will continue their own careful scrutiny of these crucial areas.
